How to use Voice search in Roku

Using your voice, you can search for a wide variety of movies and TV shows across top channels and also you can search short-form content, news and live streams. Roku devices have the facility with a voice-enabled remote control.

Voice Search using Roku Remote:

  • Make your remote pointing upwards and maintain a distance six inches from your mouth.

  • To initiate a Voice Search, Press and hold the Search icon.

  • Speak your search word at a normal tone and release the button when done speaking.

  • Once you release the button, you will handle the Roku Search screen on your TV featuring the result of your searching word.

  • Select an item to view more details including viewing options.

  • If you choose a viewing option on a channel that is not installed on your Roku device, you will be prompted to add the channel.

If your Roku remote does not support Voice Search, you can use the feature by installing the Roku mobile app for iOS® and Android™.

Mobile Voice Search

  • To initiate a search, select the search icon at the top of the mobile app.

  • Tap the microphone icon in the text box.

  • Speak your search word or movie, TV show, channel at a normal tone and then tap the microphone button in the middle of the screen to complete your search.

  • Once the mobile app processes your request, a list of results will be presented, tap the entry to view more details including viewing options.
